About My Midwest Run
Welcome! I’m an avid ultrarunner and passionate advocate for youth empowerment. I’m excited to embark on an extraordinary journey across the Midwest starting in late April 2025, and I encourage you to follow along!
Using the American Discovery Trail Central Southern Route, I’ll be running approximately 2000 miles in 90 days to raise awareness and support for Girls on the Run, an organization close to my heart, and for the American Discovery Trail, a unique pathway mapped out in the early 1990s to help connect communities to nature and each other.
Girls on the Run (GOTR) is dedicated to helping girls understand themselves, value relationships and teamwork, and recognize how they can shape the world at large. During a GOTR season, girls participate in lessons that build social, emotional, and physical skills, then gain confidence through accomplishment by ending the season with a team 5k run.
The American Discovery Trail (ADT) is a combination of rails-to-trails, back country roads, and city sidewalks that allows people to traverse the US from one coast to the other. I’ll be running the ADT Central Southern Route, the Midwest section that begins just outside Cincinnati and crosses Southern Indiana, Southern Illinois, Southern Missouri, Southern Kansas, Southern Colorado, and ends in downtown Denver.
Having grown up in a very rural area like many of those I’ll run through, I’m excited to have the opportunity to speak with girls and their families about their limitless potential, to share stories of empowerment and, hopefully, inspire people to embrace their strength and potential through running.
I’m excited to make people more aware of the potential of GOTR to impact girls’ lives and the availability of so much usable, beautiful exercise space across the Midwest!
Special thanks to The Cigna Group for allowing me the time away to uplift and support underserved communities through their Community Ambassador Fellowship program.
